Blue Lake Ranch Applesauce

The branches of our numerous apple trees nearly brush the ground under the weight of their voluminous fruit! We hardly let a bed and breakfast guest leave the ranch house without a handful of freshly polished beauties, with hearty invitations to pick more during their stay!

Our fabulous breakfast cooks, Jackie & Pam, are always coming up with creative recipes to share our apple wealth. Here is the recipe for an applesauce that has been quite popular these days - as a simple side or partnered with our potato pancakes!

Core and roughly chop about 3-4 pounds of apples (any variety)
Place in large saucepan with a little bit of water (about an inch) over medium high heat
Add to taste: Equal parts white & dark drown sugar
Simmer over medium heat until apples are fully softened – about 30-40 minutes
Run apples through a food mill, blender or food processor.
