Cowgirl Opera at the Durango Arts Center

The arts community of Durango provides a wealth of fun and progressive entertainment, and the Durango Arts Center in particular offers some innovative theater programs! The Cowgirl Opera is the culmination of a 19 year old project started by local artist John Thomas with a collection of gritty cowgirl photos. The photo project morphed into a line of furniture and inspired a series of songs that Thomas has been writing and nurturing through the years. With four special performances at the Durango Arts Center in April and May, this is sure to be a memorable theater experience. Visit the Cowgirl Opera website for a history and ticket info.

Intro to Flyfishing in Durango!

Many Blue Lake Ranch guests make flyfishing a part of their visit with us, whether on our own Blue Lake or on our private access to Animas River shoreline. One of our recommended fishing guides is holding two classes this Sunday, April 4th (at 10:30am and 4:30pm) for budding flyfishers.

If you've ever wanted to learn to fly fish, this class is for you. Will Blanchard, owner of Animas Valley Anglers and one of the most experienced guides in the region, will teach you everything you need to know to get started. The class will focus on what is behind the sport of flyfishing, entemology, gear, and casting techniques. Both classes will take place at the Durango Nature Center along the Florida River. Space is limited to 8 per class.
