The mesas, arroyos, mountains and valleys in the Durango area provide unsurpassed terrain for trail riding. There are several fine outfitters just a short drive from Blue Lake Ranch and many of our B&B guests choose do to some exploring on horseback during their stay. Rimrock Outfitters out of Mancos and Rapp Corrall just north of Durango are two of our favorite operators. Visit their websites for more information about simple trail rides, lunch rides, steak rides and pack trips!

Many Blue Lake Ranch guests make flyfishing a part of their visit with us, whether on our own Blue Lake or on our private access to Animas River shoreline. One of our recommended fishing guides is holding two classes this Sunday, April 4th (at 10:30am and 4:30pm) for budding flyfishers.
If you've ever wanted to learn to fly fish, this class is for you. Will Blanchard, owner of Animas Valley Anglers and one of the most experienced guides in the region, will teach you everything you need to know to get started. The class will focus on what is behind the sport of flyfishing, entemology, gear, and casting techniques. Both classes will take place at the Durango Nature Center along the Florida River. Space is limited to 8 per class.
